Hello World!

Hello Everyone!

Learning new things is great, and hopefully you think that's great as well.

My plan here is basically to create a repository of interesting brain effluvium that I come across in my stumbles through life, the internet, and everything.

There will probably not be a whole lot of continuity other than "things that are (hopefully) interesting." That is a pretty broad spectrum of topics, to say the least.

I currently have nothing to say, so I'll start with ... shameless self-promotion.

Do You Want to Know Something Interesting About ... Scott?

Thought so.

I'll start off by saying that once, I stumped Buzz Aldrin, the second human to set foot on a celestial object other than earth, with a question when I was nine years old. Cool huh?

I asked Buzz "If visible light and radio waves are basically the same thing, just at a different wavelength, then why can radio waves travel through walls, and visible can't?" He had no answer. I stumped him!

Now realistically, he probably knew and didn't know how to phrase it to a fourth-grader, or he let me think that I stumped him because there was long line behind me (it was a book signing) and he wanted to keep that line moving because he wanted dinner. I like to think however, that I was just cleverer than he was (I tried to deliver on the "shameless" promise).

Buzz Aldrin is clearly much smarter than me, as is just about everyone who found out all the interesting things I'll talk about, but I like to think that I'm at least decent at accruing, understanding, and distilling information and making it interesting to hear about (yeah, I ended that sentence in a preposition, what are you gonna do about it?).

Anyway, I'll try to write something somewhat frequently so that it's actually worth it to check back to keep learning.

I'm experimenting with email notification. If you're interested, you can go to

and enter an email and hit "subscribe." I'll send out a quick notification when I post something, and that's it. They don't share you email with anyone other than me.

Cheers,
